Count Me In with the Orchestra!
An exciting opportunity for pupils to experience playing alongside a professional orchestra at Derby Arena and Buxton Octagon
Schools engaging in a programme of Classroom Instrumental Learning (CIL) are invited to take part in our exciting new opportunity to play alongside a professional orchestra of some of the finest musicians in the UK!
All necessary resources for the pieces/songs will be provided to programme Deliverers and will be prepared during the weekly Classroom Instrumental Learning lessons.

Specially developed for children
A concert packed with exciting film music has been prepared by Carrot Productions – Hub partners and specialists in high-impact performances for young people. These will be performed by an outstanding full orchestra of professional musicians chosen for their ability to engage with audiences.
Specially arranged pieces have been prepared in collaboration with DDMP teachers for a high-quality learning experience, giving the opportunity for pupils to perform alongside the pros – including Wallace & Gromit, Waltz of the Flowers, and Pirates of the Caribbean. Two further movie songs – Touch the Sky (from Brave) and This is Me (from Greatest Showman) – will be included for everyone to sing together.
How to get involved
- Tickets: £7.50 each, with one free adult place per 10 children. All essential carers are free.
- Transport: Schools are responsible for booking their own transport to and from the event.
- Eligibility: This event is for pupils taking part in a Classroom Instrumental Learning programme with Derby & Derbyshire Music Partnership this academic year.
