National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain

NYONYO's 164 musicians come from all over the UK, and from very different backgrounds - but they're bound together by their love for classical music, their desire to be challenged, and their enthusiasm for inspiring others. And, of course, by all being teenagers.

NYO Inspire Activities

    The philosophy behind NYO Inspire is simple: to give breakthrough experiences of orchestral music to teenagers of all backgrounds, both as musicians and as audience members. NYO Inspire offers the highest quality orchestral playing opportunities to those committed teenage musicians who need them most, with free workshops, residencies and ensembles nationwide. These events will take your orchestral playing to the next level while working closely alongside NYO musicians and tutors.

National Youth Youth Folk Ensemble

NYFEThe National Youth Folk Ensemble is for talented young instrumentalists aged 14- 18 who are dedicated to developing as folk musicians and excited about collaborating with others who share their passion!

  • Ensemble members will participate in four weeks of intensive residential courses in different parts of England and receive high-quality tuition and guidance from leading folk musicians. They will develop skills in performance, arrangement and leadership as well as give public performances. Sampler Days are the first stage of the audition process and are free to attend.

European Youth Music Week

EYMWThe European Youth Music Week is an annual summer course for advanced young instrumentalists aged 16-26, offering the chance to play a great symphonic & chamber repertoire whilst meeting like-minded people from across the continent in music venues throughout Europe.

Summer Course 2017

  • Sunday 30 July − Sunday 6 August, Blankenheim Germany
    Repertoire includes − Tchaikovsky Symphony no.6 'Pathetique', Stravinsky Firebird Suite, Candid Overture, Shostakovich Festival Overture, Coates Covent Garden Suite, Strauss Horn Concerto no.1, Mendelssohn Ruy Blas Overture, Corelli Concerto Grosso op.6 no.12, Mozart, Eb Serenade.
