City & County Youth Orchestra (CCYO)

The orchestra meets for two residential courses each year, in February half term and during the final week of the school year, culminating in high-profile public performances. The Orchestra is directed by Peter Stark (Leverhulme Professor of Conducting to the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain) with recent repertoire including Richard Strauss Four Last Songs, Rimsky-Korsakov Scheherazade and Holst's The Planets Suite.

Becoming a member of the City & County Youth Orchestra

Entrance into the City & County Youth Orchestra (CCYO) is done by audition, where applicants are expected to be of at least grade 6. Competition for places is quite high, and we expect many players who are given a place in this ensemble to be up to, and beyond grade 8 standard.
