Derby & Derbyshire Schools' Orchestra (DDSO)

Information about the Derby & Derbyshire Schools' Orchestra - see what is upcoming for this ensemble, and what they have recently been up to.

This orchestra meets for two residential courses each year, in February half term and during the final week of the school year, as a stepping stone to the City & County Youth Orchestra.

Applicants should have passed at least grade 4, and we expect many players to be grade 5 or 6 standard.  Applicants for the limited number of wind places need to be at least grade 6 standard. Only oversubscribed positions are auditioned, in order to maintain musical balance.

The Derby & Derbyshire Schools' Orchestra changed its name from the City & County Intermediate Youth Orchestra (CCIYO) in February 2014.
