Young Sounds Concert

Derbyshire City & County Youth Wind Band will be joined by Young Voices and Very Young Voices in this special concert showcasing the talent of Derbyshire's young music-makers.

The City & County Youth Wind Band showcase their work over the days preceding this concert at the Lea Green residential course alongside performances from Young Voices (conducted by Rachel Wilkes) and Very Young Voices (conducted by Melanie Pearson) with the following programme of music:

Adam Gorb Suite for Winds
Martin Ellerby Cane River Murals
Performances by Very Young Voices
Performances by Young Voices of Derbyshire
A group performance of the Red Nose Day song: Making Funny Faces

Tickets & Bookings

Tickets will only be available through participating schools and City & County Wind Band only. There will be no tickets for sale on the door for this event.

Young Voices of Derbyshire & Very Young Voices

Derby & Derbyshire Music Partnership's Singing Support Team work with different schools across the city and county each term, to bring young singers together for large-scale performances. Tonight's singers have been preparing in their own schools since February, and came together for the first time this week.

Young Voices of Derbyshire (directed by Rachel Wilkes) features children from St. John's CE Primary School, Harrington Junior School, St. Alban's Catholic Primary School, Chaddesden Park Primary School and Roe Farm Primary School.

Very Young Voices (directed by Melanie Pierson) features children from Ashbrook Infant & Nursery Community School, Meadow Farm Community Primary School, Chaddesden Park Primary School and Asterdale Primary School.

City & County Youth Wind Band

The City & County Youth Wind Band is one of Derby & Derbyshire Music Partnership's flagship ensembles, attracting high-achieving musicians from across the county. Conducted by Mark Heron, this ensemble achieves a very high musical standard, having recently been awarded a Platinum Award at the National Concert Band Festival.
