Shirebrook Cluster Schools Music Celebration

Over 150 young musicians from the Shirebrook region come together for this concert showcasing the musical talent of the Shirebrook Academy cluster primary schools' Wider Opportunities programmes, a joint choir and the Academy's music students.

Primary school children from five local schools will perform pieces they have learned during their Wider Opportunities programmes and will be joined by pupils from Park Junior to form a massed choir. They will share the stage with the Shirebrook Academy Wind Band who will open the concert. Concert will include:

  • Shirebrook Academy Wind Band directed by Adam Case
    Anthony Bek Primary and Model Village Primary Samba Band directed by Gareth Widdowson
    Langwith Primary and Whaley Thorns Primary Violins directed by Lynne Clark and Jo Allatt
    Brookfield Primary Clarinets directed by Helen Griffin
    Massed Choir directed by Naomi Baynes and Debbie Castles

Admission to this concert is reserved for the parents and families of participants only. There will be no tickets available on the door for this event.

What is Wider Opportunities?

Derby & Derbyshire Music Partnership offers year-long programmes of whole class music tuition to primary school pupils, delivered by specially trained music teachers and designed to meet the requirement of the National Plan for Music Education Core Role 1.
