Young musicians from Peak District Music Centres will be performing at the following events this spring…


Music For Youth − Peak District Regional Festival

Sunday 11 February 2017, after 2.00pm − Hope Valley College

Peak District Music Centres' Senior Wind Band will be joining forces with North East Derbyshire Music Centre's Festival Band (directed by Gareth Widdowson) for an entry at the Peak regional festival of Music for Youth.

Spring Strings Concert

Friday 9 March 2018, 7.00 − 8.30pm at Buxton Community School, College Road, Buxton SK17 9EA

This concert includes: Hope Valley Preparatory Strings (directed by Jason Curteis and Ailsa Hoyle), Training String Orchestra (directed by Neil McErlean), Intermediate String Orchestra (directed by Jason Curteis), Peak District String Orchestra (directed by Gavin Usher), 

Tickets − Free admission, donations welcome


Derby University Chancellor Installation

Thursday 15 March 2018, Time TBC − The Devonshire Dome, Buxton SK17 6RY

Peak District String Orchestra (directed by Gavin Usher) will be performing at the installation of a new Chancellor at the University of Derby at the Devonshire Dome in Buxton.

This is a closed event and not open to the public.


End of term concert for Beginner Winds

Thursday 15 March, 6.30 − 8.00pm − Buxton Community School, Buxton SK17 9EA

This concert includes: Buxton and Hope Valley Beginner Wind Bands (directed by Ben Simnett and Jess Bagnell), Peak District Youth Choir (directed by Dan Timmins), Buxton Community School Choir and instrumental groups (directed by Dan Carter) and Harpur Hill Primary School Brass.

"Windows of the World"

Saturday 17 March, 7.00pm − St. John's Church, St. Johns Road, Buxton SK17 6XN

This concert is a special collaborative event with young musicians from Dark Peak Music (based in Glossop), Peak District Music Centres (based in Buxton and Bakewell) and Wirksworth Music Centre coming together to form a massed Wind Band and the Orchestra of the Peaks. This concert will include: Orchestra of the Peaks (directed by Jeff Snowdon), Peak District String Orchestra (directed by Gavin Usher), Combined bind with Peak District Wind Band and Dark Peak Concert Band (directed by Gareth Widdowson).
