City & County Youth Wind Band FAQs

We're looking forward to seeing you at our next event! Here is a few things that regularly get asked.

Rehearsal details

• When and where is the rehearsal?
  Sunday 26 January 2025, 9.00am-1.00pm at County Hall, Smedley Street Matlock DE4 3AG – Open in Google Maps.
• Where can I park?
  There is limited temporary parking on Smedley Street for drop offs, or you can park at County Hall a little further down the hill off Bank Street. From there you can walk up to County Hall by followig signs for the Reception – Open in Google Maps.
• Can I stay at County Hall during the morning?
  Unfortunately, we cannot host parents at County Hall during the rehearsal morning.
• Are there any refreshments?
  We do not provide refreshments other than access to water. If your child needs anything, we suggest they bring it with them. 
• Does my child need to prepare or bring anything?
  Only themselves, their instruments and anything they may personally need. You may wish to wear warm clothing in case the heating is not at full power straight away. You can also buy a band concert polo shirt for £10 (please bring cash).

Course details

• When and where is the course?
  Saturday 22 – Sunday 23 March 2025 at Lea Green Centre, nr. Matlock DE4 5GJ  – Open in Google Maps. Times will be confimed at a later date.
• Can we park at Lea Green when dropping off?
  Yes, there is a small car park outisde the building that is free to use.
• Can parents stay and watch some of the course?
  Unfortunately, we cannot host parents at the course other than during the drop off period.
• Are there any refreshments outside of meals?
  There will be water and hot drinks and basic snacks provided. There will be nothing to buy.
• Does my child need to prepare anything?
  Unless you are sent repertoire in advance specifically, participants do not need to prepare anything before attending. 
• Can my child bring a friend?
  Unfortunately not for this course, but they are welcome to apply for an audition for the next one. 

Concert details

• When and where is the concert?
  Sunday 23 March 2025, 3.00pm at County Hall, Smedley Street Matlock DE4 3AG – Open in Google Maps.
• Where can I park?
  There is a car park at County Hall a little further down the hill off Bank Street. From there you can walk up to County Hall by followig signs for the Reception – Open in Google Maps.
• Do I need to transport my child to the concert?
  No, coach transfer is provided to all participants from the course to the concert.
• How do we get tickets to the concert?
  We will be in touch with a private link to buy tickets online nearer the time.
• Do we need to sign out at the end of the conert?
  No, families can take their children straight after the concert

Payments

• How do I make an online payment?
  Please do this using Derbyshire County Council's payment service. This link is in your confirmation email too. 
• Can I pay on arrival?
  Unfortunately, we cannot accept cash or card payments when the course starts.
• I think something has gone wrong with my payment, what do I do?
