Do you know what syncopation is? Or a primary triad? How about the difference between an octave and an ostinato?
Guidance and documentation from the DfE and Oftsed about music in schools are often packed full of specific and technical musical terminology, which can be overwhelming if you are not familiar with it.
This training aims to explore some of this terminology, unpacking the meaning through practical activities to help teachers gain a greater understanding.
What is included in the training?
This training event is delivered by an music education Consultant and will include:
- Explore: Gain an understanding of the terminology used to describe music and musical expectations in the curriculum
- Understand: Through practical activities, gain an understanding of what these terms mean in the context of music-making
- Apply: Increasing confidence in using musical terminology and navigating government guidance and planning documentation.

Alongside access to the training, you will be provided with a resource pack of ideas from the session.
