The Derbyshire Songbook is MUST HAVE teaching resource, FREE to every primary and junior schools that takes part in one of our Derbyshire Songbook Projects.
What is the Derbyshire Songbook?
It is so much more than a songbook! Seven carefully selected songs ensure that there is something for every school covering a wide range of schools and topics.
It is packed with teaching tips to help staff and pupils learn effectively, gives suggestions on how to develop the music curriculum through these songs, and includes cross curricular links.
The songbook comes with online access to all resources, with downloadable tracks and a unique Words on Screen Player.
What does a project involve?
These exciting projects include class lessons by a singing expert, CPD for teachers and culminates in a special performance...
- Initial twilight CPD session
You will listen to the songs and choose which will be in your project. You will look at the teaching tips that will enhance your music curriculum, including the cross-curricular links. You will learn how to access your eSongbook and online resources, and discuss rehearsal dates and how a performance will work.
- Class lessons from an expert
Your class(es) will receive three 1-hour sessions delivered by a specially trained Music Partnership Singing Support Teacher. They will introduce and teach the songs to pupils and support ongoing CPD for class teachers by showing how the extension activities can be delivered to get the most out of this project and the resources.
- Performance morning
A performance morning will be scheduled in local clusters of participating schools. There will be new warm up and focus activities on the day, as well as preparation for the performance of the chosen songs. This will include the Derbyshire Song - The Best That You Can Be.
