The Derbyshire City & County Youth Orchestra (CCYO) will be joining forces with the Basque Students' Orchestra for a collaboration tour, conducted by Jon Malaxetxebarria

Basque logosThe Derbyshire City & County Youth Orchestra is one of Derby & Derbyshire Music Partnership's flagship ensembles, attracting high-achieving musicians from across the county. The Euskadiko Ikasleen Orkestra (Basque Students' Orchestra) is the equivalent youth orchestra for the Basque region of Spain.

The two orchestras will be joining together for a collaborative residential course from Saturday 13 April at Trent College, Long Eaton, before embarking on a five-day tour of English and Basque city venues, playing a programme of music by English and Basque composers:

Becoming a member of the City & County Youth Orchestra

Entrance into the City & County Youth Orchestra (CCYO) is done by audition, where applicants are expected to be of at least grade 6. Competition for places is quite high, and we expect many players who are given a place in this ensemble to be up to, and beyond grade 8 standard.
