Step into Pop 2

  • Saturday 9 February 2019, performance at 3.30pm

Following on from a very successful Step Into Pop project in 2018, working together with ensemble director Lucy Revis and Sheffield-based band Before Breakfast, we are running an extension to the project to provide even more of an insight to the work of a classical musician in the world of pop. After several workshops for students to work with instrumentalists and vocalists − two Friday evenings to include song writing, composition, arrangement and performing − we will end with a Saturday afternoon performance by students to include the songs written during the project as well as an opportunity to hear more from Before Breakfast.

Tickets − £5 Adult, £2 Child − available from NEDMC

Music for Youth Regional Festival

  • Sunday 3 March 2019
    The Octagon, Sheffield University

Good luck to NEDMC Junior and Senior Choirs (directed by Christina McKechnie) and NEDMC Double Bass Ensemble (directed by Sarah Brown) as they take part in the regional heat of Music for Youth at The Octagon Centre in Sheffield. With a special mention to class 4 from Woodthorpe Primary school as they join together with NEDMC Junior Choir for this event. Following a fantastic performance in the regional heat last year the NEDMC Junior Choir were chosen to go through to the second stage of the competition.

This meant they had the privilege of performing at the Birmingham Symphony Hall, which was an amazing experience. This year, with the help of Class 4, we would like to see them go even further!
